CHIEF NUCLEAR ENGINEER
We have been retained by our client to identify and recruit a Chief
Nuclear Engineer. Our Client is an extremely successful engineering,
procurement, and construction management firm with a global presence.
It is highly regarded, and is consistently listed as a top contractor by
Engineering News Record. Our Client has entered into a joint
venture to act as the Program Manager on the construction of new nuclear power plants. The Chief Nuclear Engineer
will be responsible for the technological aspects of the power plant,
as well as working with contractors and suppliers.
This position will be located in the Middle East.
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
- Making decisions on which technologies will be used in the new plants, such as deciding between BWR and PWR reactors.
- Managing, coordinating and administering the project from the
conceptual stages through planning and engineering, through
installation of the reactor and other components.
- Oversee and manage all engineering on site. This includes permitting, licensing, and systems design.
- Work closely with construction companies to ensure successful
hand-off from engineering phase into construction. Resolve problems and
coordinate final project turnover to the customer.
- Supervise the development of budgets and schedules, monitor
progress and initiate action to ensure project objectives and schedules
are met and work is performed within budget.
Key skills and experience that our client desires include:
- B.S. in Nuclear Engineering is required, and an MS in Nuclear Engineering is highly desirable.
- 15+ years of experience in nuclear power either in a construction or utility setting.
- In-depth
knowledge of engineering and construction means and methods, with
focused experience in nuclear or traditional power plant construction.
- Knowledge of both BWR and PWR technologies, and Nuclear Steam Supply Systems, or NSSS.
- Experience
in selection of nuclear power plant technologies, either within a
construction or utility company, along with working within a highly
regulated environment (safety, quality, technical codes and other
standards and regulations)
- Excellent relationship management skills and a team player
with a proven track record of developing and leading engineering teams.
- Willing to relocate to the Middle East.
