CONTROLLER, FEDERAL DIVISION
We have been retained by our client to identify and recruit a Controller for our client's Federal Division. Our client is a global leader in full-service engineering, consulting, construction, and operations, provides services to a diverse spectrum of industry, government, private and public utility, and commercial clients to plan, develop, and manage infrastructure and facilities.
The successful candidate will be the financial controller for Government Contract Operations and play an integral role in the support of operations by providing compliance services and detailed project accounting. This position requires an expert level knowledge and experience in contract accounting regulations and requirements.
This position will be located in Denver, CO.
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
- Oversee the Federal accounting staff and activities, as well as ensure the necessary resources to maintain compliance.
- Work in a highly collaborative environment and coordinate with the Corporate Controller to manage resources between corporate accounting and the federal accounting group.
- Serve as the leader in effectively communicating to senior operations personnel the policies and practices that affect business operations and assist operations in preparing for changes in policy and regulations as needed.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley requirements by coordinating with the corporate financial team.
- Work with operations in order to determine the best solutions for compliance with Federal programs in which parameters are not specified and/or open to interpretation.
- Establish training programs for Project Accounting staff.
- Establish and maintain US Federal Government compliant policies and procedures for all accounting practices.
- Remain current on all FAR and CAS regulations.
- Work with the Federal Audit team in supporting any DCAA audit issues regarding all accounting activities.
Key skills and experience that our client desires include:
- Must have minimum 15 years of US Federal government experience (including expert level knowledge of FAR and CAS) and at least 10 years of senior level financial/accounting experience in the Engineering and Construction industry.
- Experience must include project accounting, financial management and supervisory experience.
- Experience managing financial operations within a company or division generating a minimum of $1Billion in annual revenue.
- A solid understanding of all Federal accounting policies and procedures.
- Experience in developing and implementing policies, procedures and programs for compliance with federal accounting requirements and audits.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of all current FAR and CAS regulations.
- Ability to evaluate federal compliance issues and develop effective solutions.
- Experience maintaining compliance with GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
- Ability to provide a meaningful interpretation of reports in order to monitor project performance and discuss with all levels of management.
- Strong understanding of the relationship among project execution, finance, and profitability.
- The ability to excel in a team-oriented, collaborative working environment.
- Demonstrated experience with identifying, analyzing, and solving problems.
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- B.S. in Accounting (or related major)
- CPA certification is required.
