DIRECTOR OF PROJECT CONTROLS
We have been retained by our client to identify and recruit a Director
of Project Controls. Our Client is one of the top EPC firms in the
world, providing services to infrastructure, petrochemical, power,
pharmaceutical, industrial, environmental, and manufacturing
industries. The Director of Project Controls reports to the President
and CEO and will be overseeing all Project Controls Departments in each
of the client’s twelve business lines. The primary objective of the
Director of Project Controls is to establish company-wide project
controls procedures, standards, policies, tools and best practices. The
successful candidate will also develop training program for all project
controls personnel.
This position will be located in the Western United States.
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
- Develop and implement world-class tools/systems, processes, and
procedures for the evaluation and management of project controls for
all EPC projects and major programs across the enterprise
- Ensure effective, integrated implementation of project
controls processes including, scheduling, cost engineering, change
control, document control/management and earned value management.
- Evaluate scheduling, estimating, and cost statuses across all
projects and work with project controls personnel to find places for
improvement.
- Serve as a liaison with business line management to
coordinate workload and staffing plans, work processes, and procedures
for all business lines.
- Support the implementation of effective schedule, estimation
and cost maintenance throughout a project lifecycle and conclusive
resolution of schedule, estimating and cost impacts and associated
problems.
Key skills and experience that our client desires include:
- Bachelors in Construction Management, an Engineering
discipline or Project Management. An AACE or PMI certification
required: Certified Cost Consultant (CCC), Certified Cost Engineer
(CCE) or Project Management Professional (PMP)
- A minimum 25 years cost and scheduling experience
within an engineering or construction firm. Also, a minimum of 10 years
in a manager, director or comparable senior leadership role in the
Project Controls area
- Experience in any of the following business lines: civil infrastructure, power, or oil and gas.
- Demonstrated
ability to work independently on complex project controls issues. But
also must be able to manage conflict and provide resolution using a
combination of technical skills, leadership, teamwork, and people
management skills.
- Broad knowledge of Project Control Systems and
processes including Primavera Project Planner (P6, P3 E/C), SAP, and
Microsoft Project.
