PRESIDENT, MINING DIVISION

We have been retained by our client to identify and recruit a President of a Mining Division.  Our client is a worldwide leader in the design, engineering, procurement, and construction of bulk material handling & processing systems, and design and manufacturing of industrial equipment and specialty fasteners.   This position is within a multi-million dollar engineering & construction operating division serving the industrial sector. 

This senior executive has profit, loss and operations management responsibility for engineering, procurement, and construction/installation services for bulk material handling systems within the Mining division.  The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing an aggressive growth plan on a domestic and international basis. This position requires an outstanding leader with a unique set of business, financial management, project management, and operations experience to meet projected growth, revenue and profit figures.

This position will be located in the United States.

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Assume responsibility for the operational performance of all disciplines within the Mining Division, including operations, sales, finance, and project management.
  • Evaluate, develop and establish strategic direction of the business line on a domestic and international basis.
  • Develop opportunities with new clients through prior relationships, partnering with client sales organizations, and networking in the industry.
  • Review operating results, compare them to established objectives, and ensure appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results.
  • Be accountable for successful operations of all projects, including profitability, scope, problem resolution and achieving client goals.
  • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of policies and practices for the purpose of continuously improving the performance of the group.
  • Establish goals and measure progress toward them based upon sales, profit, and other performance criteria.
  • Advise CEO on key planning issues and make recommendations on key strategic issues.
  • Develop business in the mining sector by attracting clients from previous business relationships and developing those relationships on a global basis.
  • Ensure business unit achieves agreed upon financial goals while maximizing opportunities to achieve the overall mission of the organization.

Key skills and experience that our client desires include:

  • Minimum of 15 years’ operations management within the bulk materials handling industry, preferably in the Mining sector. 
  • Strong track record of successful project execution and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Currently managing operations with P&L responsibility for engineering, procurement, and construction services.
  • A strong industry network and extensive client contacts within the bulk materials handling, preferably in the coal processing market sector.
  • Strong executive presence and leadership skills with the ability to motivate others to achieve excellence.
  • Ability to assess management capabilities and needs, with methods to attract, recruit, and retain a talented management team to meet those needs
  • Must have a reputation of conducting business honestly with the ability to maintain confidences.
  • Integrity and strong sense of ethical standards is imperative. 
  • A broad, conceptual thinker with a strong business acumen and ability to strategize with a worldwide frame of mind. 
  • Results-oriented professional with the ability to develop effective strategies, set target goals, and execute plans to meet financial and organization objectives.
  • B.S. in Engineering (or related discipline)
  • MBA (a plus)
