SENIOR PROJECT DIRECTOR, TOPSIDES FACILIITES & FPSO PROJECTS

We have been retained by our client to identify and recruit a Senior Project Director of Topsides Facilities & FPSO Projects.   Our client is a privately-held, global provider of engineering, construction, and project management services in the areas of energy, transportation, communications, mining, oil and gas, and government services.

This senior level global position is responsible for overseeing the growth and development of the Offshore Group to include engineering, procurement fabrication and construction management of offshore topsides facilities and FPSO projects.  This is a high-profile position in which the successful candidate will lead multi-functional project execution teams and expand the offshore business on a global basis.

This position will be located in Houston, TX.

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Responsible for growing and further developing this emerging group within our client’s well established Oil, Gas and Chemicals Business Unit.
  • Strong understanding of the global off shore market and specifically the design, procurement, fabrication and construction of topside and FPSO facilities.
  • Formulate and lead project pursuit activities, from project identification, through proposal preparation, to contract negotiations.
  • Develop plans in conjunction with corporate staff to map out a growth strategy and then successfully implement such plans. 
  • Support new business development by building relationships with Client’s executives, networking in the industry, and leveraging prior offshore industry relationships.
  • Communicate project status and interface as the project lead with executive management team and all project stakeholders.
  • Provide insights and recommendations on strategy, policies, best practices, and other operational issues.
  • Accountable to execute management for successful operations of all assigned project duties including profitability, scope growth, corporate compliance, problem resolution, and achieving client goals.
  • Responsible for leading and directing the overall project management and oversight of design & procurement of offshore projects (FPSO/Topsides Facilities) within the global OG&C division.
  • Oversight and coordination of all technical and design personnel involved in offshore projects.
  • Lead multi-functional project execution teams on Pre-FEED, FEED, detailed design and/or EPIC execution of offshore topsides and FPSO projects.

Key skills and experience that our client desires include:

  • 20 plus years of experience in the offshore O&G industry in progressively more responsible positions, from design engineer to project management to senior executive management.
  • In-depth knowledge of offshore topsides and FPSO project execution requirements, both technical & commercial.
  • Strong client relations with an impeccable reputation in the off shore industry focused on developing topside and FPSO projects.
  • Broad knowledge of the offshore client base and global offshore fabrication and installation resources.
  • Well-connected and networked in the industry with the ability to bring in new business and expand client base.
  • Ability to formulate and lead project pursuit activities, from project identification, through proposal preparation to contract negotiations. 
  • Ability to lead multi-functional project execution teams on FEED, detailed design and/or EPIC execution of offshore topsides and FPSO projects.
  • Strong understanding of all project execution functions including project planning and control, engineering, procurement, and support of fabrication & construction, installation, hook-up and commissioning.
  • Must have vision of where the industry is going and how to capture work.
  • Previous successful track record as a Project Director/Project Manager on offshore oil & gas projects.
  • Strong combination of conceptual knowledge and hands on skills to provide direct support to proposals and projects, and performance of oversight assessment of existing projects and organizations.
  • Must be willing to travel, as required.
  • Minimum of B.S. Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering; MBA preferred.
