VICE PRESIDENT & MANAGER, TRANSMISSION DIVISION
We have been retained by our client to identify and recruit a
Chief Financial Officer. Our Client is a leading full service
contractor offering a comprehensive range of project development and
construction services to both public and private clients in the power,
industrial, mining, tunnelling, and infrastructure industries. With
over 75 years of experience and annual revenue of $250 million dollars,
the Company is one of the most well-respected heavy civil contractors
in the world. As a member of senior management, the Vice
President of the Transmission Division will provide strategic planning
and organizational leadership for a newly created, start-up
Transmission Division.
This position will be located in the Rocky Mountain Region of the United States.
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
- Establish
goals for the division and means to achieve those goals.
- Primary
responsibility for purchasing of equipment and the hiring of key personnel
(such as operations manager, financial manger, lead estimator, project
managers, superintendents, crews, safety mangers, etc.)
- Manage
and lead personnel in charge of projects, estimates, and administrative items.
- Create
and manage the general and administrative budget for the division.

Maintain
a strong working relationship with owners, competitors, agencies, and suppliers
in the industry.
- Understand
and prepare the division for changes to the market – scope, procurement
methods, materials, labor, technology, equipment, financials, etc. – for
various regions in the U.S.
- Establish
the safety culture for the division.
- Review
and deliver project reports, which highlight risks and opportunities, to the
CEO.
- Analyze
costs, productions, and percent complete to determine likelihood of success for
ongoing projects.
- Understand
and oversee estimate and bid process for both independent and joint venture
endeavors.
- Establish
and ensure the execution of controls to manage risk.
Key skills and experience that our client desires include:
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
- 10+ years of
construction experience in the transmission industry in the self-perform environment.
- Vice President or
Operations Manager for a transmission construction company with annual revenues
exceeding $10M annually.
- Must have strong working relationships with industry
contacts in the Western U.S.
- Ability to
comprehend and assimilate information quickly.
- Committed and
dedicated professional with a strong work ethic.
- High energy
construction professional with an entrepreneurial spirit.
- Skilled leader
who inspires a shared vision and enables other to act.
- Ability to train
and develop staff.
- Superior “people skills” with the ability to manage conflict
and encourage consensus through critical thinking and interpersonal management.
- Ability to
communicate with precision, both written and verbal.
- High School
